Finally! I'm hoping to successfully link up to Mary's Monday Mosaic tonight. She hosts this at her blog Little Red House. I have long admired the creative and fabulous bloggers who participate in Mary's weekly feature. Be sure to check them out here.I've included a few more shots of our mantel. I've fussed and fussed with this and I've decided to let it go. You see, I try to maintain a symmetry on our mantel and this time it just didn't work out. See how my apothecary jars are not the same size? I also wanted to paint some larger eggs to put in the hurricane on the left. It didn't happen. So I put off this post long enough and said "the heck with it". The bunnies are made from vintage handkerchiefs and they remain my favorite Easter decorations. What took the longest was the shelves to the left and right of the fireplace. I completely cleared them off. (Even dusted them!) I looked all over the internet at professional designer sites, bloggers' home photos and retailers for some inspiration and guidance. There was a ton of great stuff to look through! And of course all that research takes time...so my next post I'll share some pointers from those who really know how to decorate. Thanks for stopping by and if you're coming via Mary's Mosaic Monday, I hope you'll come back!

Very lovely mosaic!!!
ReplyDeletePretty. But if it is not what you want - Sometimes it is best to just walk away and come back to it later and you see it in a different way.
ReplyDeleteAdore the pink flowers framed and the rest sets it off so well!
ReplyDeleteI think it looks lovely, Traci! I always like something that is not quite perfectly symmetrical -- that makes it more interesting, imho. You have a beautiful home. Thanks for sharing at MM. :)
ReplyDeleteLove your mantle and the painting above it. Very nice mosaic...
ReplyDeleteTraci, Here's a link to my mom's recipe for Kulich (Russian Easter bread)...

ReplyDeleteLove your mosaic and the way you decorated your mantle for Easter! Did you make the bunnies? What a great idea. I have a bag full of vintage hankerchiefs and gloves from my grandmother and never knew what to do with them. ~Diana
ReplyDeleteWell Traci, I have to say I love your mantle. I'm not one for perfect symmetry so I like the odd sized jars. The picture is lovely and I absolutely adore the bunnies how sweet.
ReplyDeleteI think the mantel looks great. After seeing all the beautiful home decor's on blogs I have come to the understanding that I am no decorator but I do appreciate beauty that others create.
ReplyDeleteHi Tracy - Thanks for visiting Composition Life.
ReplyDeleteWith regards to the blue birds - I have been using Pennington Wold Bird Seed (from WalMart) and C and S High Energy Berry Seed Suet and also their seed and suet. I am guessing it is the suet they are revisiting for.
My camera is a rebel xti and I have been using a Tamron AF 18-270mm f/3.5-6.3 Di ll VC lens. You can read more about my camera equipment here: http://www.intelligentexpressions.blogspot.com/2010/01/photographer.html
Your mantle is beautiful (as well as your mosaic) - I hope someday my home can be clean and neat and inspiring - just seems I never have the time - working full time and being the taxi driver for 3 sons! Oh well each season of life has it's own joys I suppose.

I have never seen another, until now. I have the "yard of roses" picture in my dining room. We got it as a wedding gift from a dear friend who has passed away. I had always admired it when it was hanging in her home. It's a cherished piece at our house.
ReplyDeleteLove your mantel! Looks great.
Double pretty things...on the mantel and in the fireplace! The fireplace display would be beautiful on the mantel too. Adorable fabric bunnies too. Come say hi.
